" And now here is my secret, a very simple secret:

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly;

What is essential is invisible to the eye. "

"The Little Prince."
Antoine De Saint - Exupery.
The Little Prince was a fable about a man who, stranded in the Sahara desert when the plane he is flying goes down, meets an extraordinary tiny person, The Little Prince.

Originally from a planet the size of a house where he owned three volcanoes, the Little Prince set out on the interplanetary journey that had brought him to Earth. Here after an arduous search, he finds himself having a long conversation with a fox, and learns the secret of what is most important in life.

As he told the little prince goodbye, the fox had said:
" and now here is my secret a very simple secret:
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
When the little prince tells this to the man stranded in the desert it changes the way the man looks at the world. At that moment he comes to realizes that physical appearances and material objects pale in importance compared to love, friendship and spirituality.

We in the Western world are not unlike the man stranded in the desert, our sacred spirit of survival lost under a death wish, manifesting itself as soulless materialism, rationalism and the excessively zealous profit driven motive.

The direction and focus indicated to us, as told in the fable The Little Prince may be our path way out of our spiritual desert.

When we can discover and embrace these invisible powers, love friendship and spirituality, within the context of our Western Civilization, we may avoid continuing to wander aimlessly into the vast secular wasteland of of rampant consumerism, worshipping only the golden idol and our inevitable descent into oblivion.

The creation of a more balanced society that will encompass not only a high level of technology and wealth but, also draws upon our heritage and the ancient spirituality of our people and traditions, must be considered as a direction which ongoing research and investigation may proceed, that together we may break the dark spell of crass materialism, under which we currently languish.
